Facebook user Irakli Jankarashvili, whose pieces of disinformation have been verified by FactCheck multiple times in the past (1,2), has promoted another piece of disinformation. According to the claim, LGBT “learning circles” are created in schools across western Ukraine for schoolchildren in the initial grades where children are taught about “depravity and propaganda.” The claim also includes a photo which ostensibly shows information about the LGBT “learning circles” posted on the website of Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum N4. This information was also promoted by a Russian-language account (1).

In fact, no such statement has been posted on the official website of Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum N4. The Ukrainian fact-checking organisation, StopFake, reached out to the Lyceum which denied the existence of LBGTQ “learning circles” and lessons. According to the Lyceum’s officials, the information is untrue and false.

In addition, the Батькам (For Parents) section shown in the photo which was posted on Facebook is in fact about registration and children’s meals at school. There is no information whatsoever on the website about the LGBTQ classes or teaching some type of propaganda.

Therefore, the aforementioned photo has been edited by Photoshop and is fake. There is no information about LGBT “learning circles” available on the website of Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum N4. The Lyceum officials themselves denied that such classes or lessons are given.
